Here is the treasure basket I’ve had out for about a week and will most likely continue to keep out for the rest of the season. It’s location may change and I’d like to put a few more items in it as well.
I have a few pine cones I might put in, but my hesitation is how that will pan out if Joey tries to put it in his mouth. I’d also like to put a few leaves, but I don’t want to have crushed leaves floating around my house. It’s pretty outside, not inside. 😉 I’m thinking of ironing them and then laminating them on a card, but I’d like to maintain the texture. I’m just not sure how to do that.
If you’re comfortable, you could even have this activity for a much younger infant. Feeling the different textures and colors would help to develop concentration as well as stimulate their senses.
Joey has really enjoyed this basket. And I’m actually surprised that the corn kernels haven’t all fallen out yet and that he can pick up the larger pumpkin!

Thank you for your montessori ideas for babies. It has really helped me with my 8 mo. old! The only idea I had for the leaves is modge podging them. I have no idea if that would work, but it would almost laminate them and leave the texture. Good luck
I love what u r doing !
